The purpose of the new provision is to include the recently published “Guidance for the Welfare of Laying Hens and Pullets” in the definition of “animal welfare guidance”.

The Committee draws the instrument to the attention of the Parliament on reporting ground (j) for failure to comply with laying requirements.
The Committee is nevertheless content with the explanation provided by the Scottish Government for failure to comply with the laying requirements.
The original instrument was drawn to the attention of the Parliament by the Delegated Powers and Law Reform Committee at its meeting on 2 October, and the Scottish Government agreed to lay an amending instrument to correct the errors.
