Those endeavours have been supported by a number of organisations including Renfrewshire Council, Paisley Vision, Reid Kerr College, the University of the West of Scotland and the Musicians Benevolent Fund.The festival is increasingly trying to attract matching private sector sponsorship so that it can contribute further to the regeneration of the town. I and some of my MSP colleagues have sought to encourage local businesses to think about supporting the festival.

I am delighted to be the first person in the chamber to say that it is now called the Clackmannanshire bridge, for which I thank the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change. When I was MSP for Ochil, I campaigned for it, and I know that Keith Brown has campaigned for it, too.

I like to think that, in a small way, MSPs are advocates too. However, with 50,000-plus constituents, providing the service that we know that independent advocacy provides sometimes becomes difficult.Having an advocate enables people to cut through the bureaucratic maze of different organisations and different people who are all connected with one another.
