Meeting of the Parliament 07 October 2010

The north, the north east and the south west will not be well served if the police force is centralised and run from Glasgow. The First Minister is also a north-east MSP. Will he today rule out a single police force for Scotland, which his local police board opposes?

Health and Sport Committee 03 March 2010

The Subordinate Legislation Committee did not have any comments to make on the regulations. The Minister for Public Health and Sport, Shona Robison MSP, is with us this morning, accompanied by Sean Eales, head of the care at home and free personal nursing care branch of the Scottish Government, and Jenny Stevenson, policy officer with that branch.A motion th...

Plenary, 03 Dec 2009

However, as the member indicated, there is a consensus in the medical community that it can be a key weapon in tackling the kind of alcohol misuse that can lead to many dangerous diseases. I call on MSPs from all parties to do the right thing for Scotland's health and to get behind all the proposals in the Alcohol etc (Scotland) Bill, especially those that ...

Can you advise me how I can make that correction available to all MSPs and to the media? You have just done so by putting it on the record, but it is certainly not a point of order.
Official Report Meeting date: 10 September 2009

Plenary, 10 Sep 2009

Does the First Minister agree that it is deeply disingenuous of Labour MSPs continuously to demand extra spending in a range of areas while the Labour chancellor in London is making it clear that he will cut budgets further?
Official Report Meeting date: 25 June 2009

Plenary, 25 Jun 2009

Will the First Minister assure us that he and the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing will consider ways of bringing industry representatives together with cross-party groupings of MSPs, on an on-going basis, to ensure that we build genuine consensus, rather than force through something that people are not signed up to?
Official Report Meeting date: 11 December 2008

Plenary, 11 Dec 2008

I can confirm that, last week, Highland MSPs met the deputy chief constable and the chief superintendent of Northern Constabulary, who both confirmed that Northern Constabulary had not been consulted on the proposed closure of Aberdeen forensic laboratory.
Official Report Meeting date: 25 June 2008

Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee, 25 Jun 2008

I was also struck by the observation that the chap made about arriving for dinner and not being met by a host. We can do something about that. MSPs can be delegated to tables and so on and there can be meeting points or whatever. The event went very well.
Official Report Meeting date: 27 March 2008

Plenary, 27 Mar 2008

Is it in order for ministers—or, indeed, any MSP—to mislead the Parliament? The First Minister knows that a multi-option referendum is not support for a single transferable vote, which of course is what he said was his policy yesterday, to universal astonishment.
Official Report Meeting date: 19 February 2008

Public Petitions Committee, 19 Feb 2008

I think that, rather than considering the best interests of patients, a load of medical axes were being ground. Obviously, as a north-east MSP, I am privy to the same briefings that Brian Adam gets from the health board and so on, and it is clear to me that there is strong support for retaining the four-unit model.
