We await the UK Government’s proposals on a British bill of rights, but does the minister agree that, short of United Kingdom withdrawal from the European Union, the charter of fundamental rights will apply throughout the UK when matters of EU law are engaged, and that any proposals that the UK Government makes need to take that and the benefits of the charter fully into account? Yes—I entirely agree. The safeguards in the EU charter will continue to apply for as long as the UK remains a member of the EU.
