That inaction has been regrettable, given that we all agree that post offices offer a vital public service and that countless MSPs, including those present in the chamber, have condemned the post office closure programme.
From my perspective as the Liberal Democrat spokesman for the environment and as an ordinary MSP, I want to address the issues of climate change and fisheries.
The member will appreciate that we must abide by due process. I am aware of her and other MSPs’ concern about the building; however, as I said in my answer to her first question, listed building consent was refused on 21 May 2010, which was the last time that there was involvement by Scottish ministers in the case.
I think that we should take forward this petition, as it highlights an issue of some importance that I believe Christine Grahame MSP has raised previously in Parliament.
On Saturday, I will attend the taste of Grampian festival and I look forward to sampling the best of the north-east’s larder. I urge all north-east MSPs to attend that magnificent event.
I hope that, with the help of Liberal Democrat MSPs, we can secure an agreement with the Secretary of State for Scotland on a much-improved package of financial measures, which will be good for the people of Scotland.
