The Scottish Government does not use cost generating phone numbers and its agencies are informed in their use of 0300 and 0845 numbers, which are also non-cost-generating, by best practice as recommended by the industry regulator OFCOM.

To ask the Scottish Government, further to the answer to question S4W-16783 by Fergus Ewing on 21 August 2013, what its position is on whether the issuing of underground coal gasification licences is in the best interests of the population. The UK Coal Authority is the licensing authority for underground coal gasification in Scotland and the UK.
