Official Report Meeting date: 24 June 2003

Procedures Committee, 24 Jun 2003

It described well the implications of and influences and constraints on how we develop the matter. Many MSPs responded to the questionnaire. I am particularly interested in the impact on the broadcast media, on how we do business and on how we interact with schools. On the surface, moving First Minister's question time to before lunch time on Thursdays would...
Official Report Meeting date: 10 June 2003

Environment and Rural Development Committee, 10 Jun 2003

If we could get a written submission from the SAC in advance of our meeting on 25 June, that would at least give us a written statement that members could question, along with all the previous correspondence from other MSPs and interested parties. That would mean that we were not starting from scratch at the meeting.

Official Report Meeting date: 13 June 2001

Plenary, 13 Jun 2001

I would also like to thank my deputy Margaret Curran, who worked tirelessly throughout in a very good-humoured way.Throughout the development of the bill, one of the key benefits of having a Scottish Parliament has been evident—the access that the full range of interested individuals and organisations have had to their MSPs and, through them, to ministers a...
Official Report Meeting date: 6 June 2001

Plenary, 06 Jun 2001

Mental health sufferers—possibly up to 20 per cent of the population—have a good case, but it is unfortunate that many other ailments are not covered by the motion.I would go further and suggest that we need a review of the whole prescription charge exemption system. I do not want MSPs to play the needs of one interest group against those of another.
Official Report Meeting date: 23 May 2001

Transport and the Environment Committee, 23 May 2001

Then they concentrated on the Scottish Parliament. They have seen MSPs from all parties, who have been sympathetic.
Official Report Meeting date: 17 January 2001

Plenary, 17 Jan 2001

To me, that suggests that approval had already been given when the bill had its second reading last week. That is misleading to MSPs and to MPs. It might be appropriate for the Procedures Committee to consider suitable timetabling of Sewel motions.
