*S6M-20343 Kevin Stewart: Believe in Scotland’s Campaign, End the Scottish Energy Bill Rip- Off—That the Parliament backs the Believe in Scotland campaign, End the Scottish Energy Bill Rip- Off, which states that Scotland's households pay the highest standing charges in the UK, despite Scotland producing vast amounts of affordable renewable power; notes that the campaign has five key demands of the UK Government, the first being to bring an end to what it sees as the unfair extra standing charges for consumers in Scotland, the second is to deliver a fair, transparent energy pricing system that does not harm Scotland’s economy, the third is to have the provision of a pricing benefit that recognises Scotland’s contribution to clean energy generation, the fourth is to publish a plan, with committed dates, to lower energy bills for Scotland's domestic and business consumers and, finally, the fifth demand is to cancel all new energy price rises planned in 2026 by the regulator, Ofgem; calls on the UK Government to heed these demands and ensure that Scotland's consumers get the cheaper bills that were promised when the current UK administration came to power in 2024; believes that an energy-rich nation such as Scotland should not have people living in fuel poverty, and concludes that, ultimately, the best way to ensure this is for Scotland to have the full powers over energy policy, which, it believes, a fresh start with independence would deliver.

PB/S6/23/27 SS6M-07369: Sharon Dowey: Impact of Long-term Historical Site Closures Managed by Historic Environment Scotland - That the Parliament recognises what it sees as the importance of historic sites to communities across the South Scotland region, and the rest of Scotland; believes that any long-term closures to sites managed by Historic Environment Scotland (HES) could have a severe impact for Scotland’s tourism industry, and a devastating impact on any communities and businesses that rely on these attractions being fully open; understands that the heritage sector is a vital part of Scotland’s tourism industry, and considers that it is responsible for attracting millions of visitors from around the world to Scotland each year; further understands that 60 historical sites managed by HES are closed, and that the inspection programme is expected to conclude in April 2024; recognises what it sees as the need to address the shortage of skilled labourers, such as stonemasons; notes the calls on the Scottish Government to make additional funding available to accelerate the reopening of closed sites, and further notes the view that it is vital that all efforts are made to secure the long-term viability of Scotland’s historic sites.
