In its written evidence, the Law Society of Scotland stated that there is a clear role for the incoming Scottish Biometrics Commissioner to ensure necessary monitoring, evaluation and accountability to the public, as well as a role for the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC) in dealing with complaints.
The Committee has received evidence that cash-based approaches should be prioritised to respect people’s dignity, but also to help take account of factors such as lack of transport and rurality.
