General findings and conclusions
The Scottish prison service needs to be funded for the prisoner population that it currently holds and for the expected increase, rather than it being assumed that prisoner numbers will decrease.

It put forward a range of recommendations for improvement, including: better training for interviewers; funding for new equipment; and updating guidance.
Some examples are now highlighted.
A reduction in funding for Self-Directed Support could have a negative impact on the range of individuals using social care services, including disabled adults and children.
The hypothetical investor will be properly advised; there will be withdrawals from the fund to meet damages related needs from time to time over the duration of the award; and those withdrawals will exhaust the fund at the end of that period.
To delay, for one year, amendments to provisions about the way local authorities determine loan fund repayment provision, so that this is based more fully on proper accounting practice.
These costs are not within the scope of IIAC functions and would therefore incur additional and new funding considerations for the Scottish Government. 23.
