Air Quality Framework - Current policy position
In November 2021, ESS launched an investigation into air quality in Scotland, citing a European Court of Justice judgement in March 2021 that, across the UK, statutory air quality limit levels in respect of nitrogen dioxide, a key component of air quality issues, had been ‘systematically and persistently’ exceeded for at least seven years (2010-2017).
