If we are seeking to prevent future scandals of this nature, does the minister not accept that, in saying to the developers that this fund could be drawn on for the next 20 to 30 years—possibly in perpetuity—and that its scope could be wider, he is effectively giving them licence to misbehave in future?

The fund has benefited from a £2.4 million increase, bringing the total investment in the Delivering Equally Safe Fund to £21.6 million for 2025-26.Our Equally Safe Delivery Plan commits to the development of a flexible and stable funding model that reflects the ambitions of Equally Safe.
