Consumer Scotland Bill: Stage 1 - Brief Overview of the Bill
Its core functions are the provision of consumer advocacy and advice to reduce harm to consumers in Scotland, increase consumer confidence and increase the extent to which consumer matters are taken into account by public authorities. Fuel Poverty (Target, Definition and Strategy) (Scotland) Bill: consideration prior to Stage 3 - Definition of fuel poverty - remote rural and island households
Nevertheless, evidence heard at Stage 1 highlighted the additional costs faced by remote rural and island households, which stakeholders felt the Bill had not taken into account. Committee Members, as well as Orkney MSP Liam McArthur, agreed and asked the Government to explore options around including an MIS "uplift" for such households.
