I remind the committee that the operation was launched in February 2014, which is four years ago, and in March 2016, the Justice Committee was told by Deputy Chief Constable Iain Livingstone that the operation was “in its final stage”.
The report on that review, which was laid before the Parliament on 30 March, made a number of policy recommendations, and they are what we are here to discuss.

Following that, there must be a minimum gap of 14 days before the report stage, which is a further amending stage. That takes us to mid-March at the earliest. I provided that outline of the timetable to indicate the time frame within which the committee might choose the way forward.
