Official Report Meeting date: 4 October 2011

Public Petitions Committee 04 October 2011

As somebody who was a youth football coach before being elected as an MSP, I am particularly interested in this issue and I think that the committee would benefit from holding a wider investigation.
Official Report Meeting date: 20 September 2011

Public Petitions Committee 20 September 2011

I also note that as recently as 7 July, Drew Smith MSP asked the Scottish Government about reviewing its Gypsy Traveller site management guidance.
Official Report Meeting date: 11 March 2026

Meeting of the Parliament 11 March 2026 [Draft]

I also appreciate that many of us, particularly constituency members but also list MSPs, consider Fridays to be protected days for constituency work.
Official Report Meeting date: 18 February 2026

Education, Children and Young People Committee 18 February 2026 [Draft]

It would establish a better understanding of how and when children and families are offered family group decision making across Scotland, to inform policy and resourcing decisions and to help to meet the Promise’s call. As an Edinburgh MSP, I know that the City of Edinburgh Council’s work on that approach is transforming lives and making a real difference, ...
Official Report Meeting date: 3 February 2026

Net Zero, Energy and Transport Committee 03 February 2026 [Draft]

The industry has told us that the best way to tackle the issue is to have planned, systematic investment that allows the best use of resources and the least disruption possible. I have been contacted by other MSPs in the area who are concerned about the disruption that takes place when improvements are made, whether on the rail track, to signalling or in va...
Official Report Meeting date: 29 January 2026

Social Justice and Social Security Committee 29 January 2026 [Draft]

It is a good lesson in forecasting for MSPs, in that the forecast has shifted significantly and there is justification for that, but it has the potential to change the nature of the debate.I want to get a better understanding of the predicted £1.2 billion gap in the Scottish budget for the next few years.
Official Report Meeting date: 27 January 2026

Local Government, Housing and Planning Committee 27 January 2026 [Draft]

I am wondering what the cabinet secretary’s initial response is. Even this morning, MSPs have heard from the Scottish hospitality group, which has sent a briefing paper outlining and detailing its concerns about the impact that non-domestic rates will have on the sector.
Official Report Meeting date: 9 December 2025

Meeting of the Parliament 09 December 2025

The public are demanding action to keep communities safe, and it is our important responsibility, as MSPs, to provide that. It is high time that people were listened to and that a plan was delivered and acted on. 18:28 I was not going to contribute, but I have managed to get some free time this evening and it is a very important debate.
Official Report Meeting date: 4 December 2025

Constitution, Europe, External Affairs and Culture Committee 04 December 2025

I find it bizarre that there was no engagement with COSLA and local government. As MSP for the Paisley constituency, where there is quite an investment in the historic museum, the town hall and so on, I find it difficult to understand why Scotland’s main creative organisation would not be at that table having those conversations.
Official Report Meeting date: 19 November 2025

Meeting of the Parliament 19 November 2025 [Draft]

I am grateful that Finlay Carson was able to get support in order to have this important topic debated in the chamber, but I think that, when people look around and see the vast number of empty seats in the middle and on the other side of the chamber, they will wonder why those MSPs are not here to raise constituency concerns about healthcare issues.
