Marine spatial planning and strategic oversight
Stakeholders raised concerns about the impact of spatial constraints and competition on the fishing industry, due to offshore activities. It was strongly emphasised that there was a lack of direct consultation and early engagement with fishers to address the challenges faced by the fishing industry, due to increasing offshore activities.
Switching accounts
Poppy Scotland raised issues from the perspective of a group which records activity for two registered organisations, suggesting that an option is available to switch accounts on the lobbying system:
We still incur pressures on our staff member’s time on account that they are required to enter two sets of reporting details covering two different organisations’ activities.
I think that the islanders of Arran and anyone who wants to get there had better get used to going to and from Troon, where there has been investment, and I think that most people understand that.
We will always be keen to do more to support them, particularly in relation to mental health services. There is a range of activities already happening, and I am always willing to hear new and innovative ideas.
I warmly welcome that, as it is exactly why the Government encouraged local authorities to become more actively involved in the process of economic development.
If the committee and the Parliament cannot get answers, surely to goodness ministers, with all their authority, can get some of the answers to questions that we were unable to get.
In essence, that means that a licence fee payer in Scotland gets 55p back for every £1 they put in, whereas a licence fee payer in Wales get 110p back—if members can see the logic of that.
