Stage 1 Report on the Children (Care, Care Experience and Services Planning) (Scotland) Bill - Guidance in Relation to Care Experience

Guidance in Relation to Care Experience Sections 5 and 6 of the Bill deal with guidance for public authorities and organisations exercising public functions in relation to care experience, including putting a requirement on Ministers to issue guidance relating to care experienced people and their experiences, in order to promote understanding. In October 2024, the Scottish Government launched a public consultation entitled "Developing a Universal Definition of 'Care Experience'."

Widening access to higher education inquiry - Targets for widening access to higher education

An unachievable target is not an effective motivation. The Commissioner's 2024 Annual Report recommended the withdrawal of SIMD institutional targets and called for these to be replaced with a commitment from institutions to increase the proportion of access students.
