I truly hope that Sir Keir Starmer’s Government listens to those concerns, and I would expect Labour MSPs to raise the issue with their Westminster counterparts.
For me, the bottom line is that there are various views about the scope of fatal accident inquiries. As a constituency MSP, I have looked closely at the matter, not in relation to police officers but in respect of the complexities of deaths abroad.
We are supportive of part 2, but— On a point of information, I note that commissioners would not come to the chamber. Only MSPs, the Lord Advocate and the Solicitor General sit here.
