The number of vacancies across Scotland is disappointing but the overall number of permanent vacancies represents only 1.6% of the teaching workforce. The Scottish Government is taking a number of actions to help recruit teacher for all local authorities, including Highland.
We are implementing the recommendations of the Commission for Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce (DYW) in our Youth Employment Strategy to reduce youth unemployment by 40% by 2021.
Those items are: consideration of our approach to the Transvaginal Mesh Removal (Cost Reimbursement) (Scotland) Bill, pre-budget scrutiny and development of our work programme. Do members agree?
