Should we have a root-and-branch look at it, rather than having the piecemeal reforms that you have produced today? We as MSPs have not had a chance to input into the process—this session is it, as well as the yes-or-no vote later today—or to amend any part of it.
Unfortunately, some of the places have not been filled, but when the final figures are produced at the end of next month, we hope to see an increase in levels over last year’s levels.
There is already some training out there. Lyme Disease Action has produced some training in conjunction with the Royal College of General Practitioners.
We have turnover and we bring new people in. When the report was produced, the figure of 48 was accurate, but we currently have just over 50 people in post.
