The continuity bill does not require Scotland to align with any or all EU measures; instead, it allows us to assess on a case-by-case basis, applying our judgment and common sense, whether aligning is in Scotland’s best interests. Restrictions are guided by the science controlling the transmission of the coronavirus and older people have been taken into account as restrictions have eased. We definitely appreciate the sacrifices that older people have made while isolating and I hope that many now find themselves able to reconnect with their friends and family.
