Ministers attend such functions regularly, and members might volunteer to attend them to welcome visitors coming to this country for international conferences. Why not? We can agree a code of conduct so that we are relatively impartial and non-political on such occasions.

We are disappointed that, to date, the Executive has been unwilling to make it mandatory for sheriffs to decline the granting of an exceptional attachment order where it is known that the debtor is directly or indirectly in receipt of income support, income-based jobseekers allowance, working families tax credit or disabled persons credit.

I have strong reservations about the provision, which is intended to provide that, where a court has refused to admit a person to bail, it must, on receipt of an application from that person, consider whether imposing an electronic tag would make it possible to admit the person to bail subject to a condition restricting their movements.
