Other new and altered motions and amendments *S6M-14666 Liam McArthur: Friends of Sanday Kirk Shortlisted for SURF Award—That the Parliament congratulates Friends of Sanday Kirk in Orkney, whose conversion of Cross Kirk in Sanday has been shortlisted in the Community-led Regeneration category of the prestigious 2024 SURF Awards for Best Practice in Community Regeneration; acknowledges that this award identifies and celebrates best practice, innovation and achievement in interventions that improve Scottish communities; understands that the Friends of Sanday Kirk formed in 2022 after the Church of Scotland announced that Cross Kirk had been identified for closure; recognises what it sees as the value to the Sanday community of the restored kirk, which continues to host weddings, funerals and christenings, as well as serving as a hub for a wide range of community gatherings and activities; commends the hard work of all those involved in securing the future of what it sees as an important community asset in Sanday, most notably the Friends of Sanday Kirk; welcomes what it sees as this well-deserved recognition on the national stage in the form of a SURF Award nomination, and wishes all those shortlisted all the best on 5 December 2024, which promises to be a memorable occasion.
