Dr David Walsh acknowledged there have been "...big programmes designed to address health inequalities" in Scotland, such as Equally Well, but argued these have been relatively short term in nature and, as a result,"...will not have the necessary traction to make the difference that we know needs to be madeHealth, Social Care and Sport Committee, Official Report 31 May 2022".
Giving evidence to the Committee, Claire Stevens argued that, to tackle health inequalities effectively, the voluntary sector would like to see:
