Compulsory training is difficult because, before a member of staff can go on training, they have to get the MSP to agree. We would be saying to all MSPs that the training was compulsory for their staff, but would every MSP listen to that?
Point of Order On a point of order, Presiding Officer. As MSPs, all of us have an obligation to conduct ourselves with integrity, and one of our stated priorities in the Parliament is the promotion of jobs and the economy of Scotland.

Part 2 extends disqualification criteria for MSPs and councillors and provides that disqualification from membership of the House of Commons will no longer automatically mean that a person is also disqualified from being an MSP.
After debate, the motion was agreed to (by division: For 8, Against 3, Abstentions 0).iMargaret Mitchell MSP, Maurice Corry MSP and Liam Kerr MSP voted against the motion.
It will be able to decide the number of MSPs; it will be made permanent in UK law; 16 and 17-year-olds will be allowed to vote, if it so decides; and there could be boundary changes.
