I want to maximise the impact that those professionals can have on young lives by fully utilising the skills that careers staff possess.At the Education and Culture Committee, one of the witnesses commented that they did not expect careers services to change lives.
That includes the work that we already know about, which can, with courage, will and resources, save lives, break the cycle of trauma and help individuals, families and communities to live safer, healthier and fairer lives.
There are, of course, many challenges in this area: the gendered world that we live in; our culture; the availability of mentoring opportunities; and the lack of funding.
