Almost every one of us around the table will, as an MSP, have dealt with cases that involve difficult issues around major investigations or child protection issues.
I turn briefly to amendment 69, in my name, which, perhaps unhelpfully, has been picked up by some MSPs who are not members of the committee and has not been read as a whole.
I hope that, in the months and years to come, there will be various opportunities to engage at different levels with MSPs, this committee and others, because I think that our relationship with this Parliament is important.
It is also worth putting on public record that the issue is not a party-political one. I worked with two MSPs, in particular: the late Alex Johnstone, whose work on the petition with Jill I want to record; and Nigel Don, who is no longer an MSP.
Does the minister agree that my colleague Stuart McMillan MSP’s current bill to recover expenses from employers or their insurers for having exposed workers, their families or the public to the risks of these horrendous diseases is a very welcome step?
