The Committee also held a wide-ranging evidence session with Environmental Standards Scotland (ESS) on 5 March 2024. This included discussion of ESS’s first annual report as a statutory body and other topical issues for ESS, as Scotland’s new environmental watchdog.
Responding to our recommendations in relation to addressing longer term issues, the Permanent Secretary has committed to publishing longer term insights reports, in autumn 2024, to support planning and preparedness by public bodies and others.
