Economic inactivity The number of people economically inactive in Scotland decreased by 4,000 over the quarter but increased by 40,000 over the year which is the biggest annual increase since 2010 ( Mar-May 2009 to Mar-May 2010: +48,000) Over the quarter the economic inactivity rate in Scotland increased by 0.2 percentage points whilst the UK's fell by 0.1.
