Enabling legislation must in future be much more tightly drawn, with specific functions, expected outcomes, periodic reviews, and regular performance reporting included, as well as sunset clauses to allow assessment of continuing need.The Committee notes that the SPCB supported body landscape was relatively stable until 2020, when an additional body was created, followed by another in 2024. Proposals for a further six new advocacy-type SPCB supported bodies are currently being considered.
