While the presumption of mainstream does look to move towards a more inclusive experience for all young people within their own community, it also creates a system whereby a number of young people are not being placed in a setting which currently has the resource to appropriately support for their need/s. Many mainstream schools are trying to adapt and change in order to ensure that ‘mainstream’ is actually suitably resourced in order to meet the many needs of our learners.
