It is a matter of trust. During the recent parliamentary recess, I became keenly aware that many of my constituents were growing increasingly concerned about the potential ramifications that leaving the EU could bring, and how it will affect their communities and families.
The cabinet secretary announced—I think during the recess—that there was not going to be an opportunity to reconsider the continuity bill after the Supreme Court’s judgment on it, which held most of it to be unlawful.
That seems to be quite reasonable, because those years include a period of boom and a period of recession, which seems to be a fairly good stretch of time to examine.

When the committee took evidence from Michael Gove just before the summer recess, an area that we were interested in was what would happen if we left the European Environment Agency and that side of things and whether there was potential for associate membership.
