Letter dated 27 November from the Minister for Parliamentary Business
I can confirm that I believe a consultation could usefully consider a full restatement of MSP eligibility criteria (as occurred in Wales in 2020). I have also noted the recommendation by the Electoral Commission in its Report on the 2024 UK Parliament General Election for a strengthening of the requirements and checks for nominating candidates.
