I agree with Sandra White’s characterisation that the individuals involved were thugs—there is no getting away from that. (S5O-03720) The Cabinet Secretary for the Rural Economy announced last week that £80 million will be paid by the end of March 2020 to Scotland’s active farmers and crofters. The anticipated remaining £80 million will be paid by the end of March 2021, once it has been delivered by the United Kingdom Government.
(S5F-01338) In December last year, we launched “A Fairer Scotland for Disabled People—Our Delivery Plan to 2021 for the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities”, which includes £3 million of funding for the active and independent living improvement programme.

There are many sources of funding, and it is our job to ensure that we get maximum impact in that regard. The point that Mr Griffin makes about income maximisation is well made.
I agree that the early years are crucial, as is early intervention and prevention, and we continue to strive to achieve our aim of getting it right for every child. The roll-out of early learning and childcare will also play a part in the ambitions that we have for our children.
The petitioner has also confirmed that they will sit on the working groups that will be looking into recommendations of the recent review of the planning system that was established by the Scottish Government. Given all that activity, I am minded to close the petition, but I am, of course, keen to hear members’ views.
