Introduction
The Wellbeing and Sustainable Development (Scotland) Bill (“the Bill”) is a Member's Bill introduced by Sarah Boyack MSP (“the Member in charge of the Bill”) on 27 March 2025.
The Scottish Parliament designated the Social Justice and Social Security Committee (“the Committee”) as the lead committee on 28 May 2025.

Post Legislative Scrutiny in Wales
At its meeting on 31 March 2025 the Senedd Equality and Social Justice Committee agreed to undertake post-legislative scrutiny of the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act.
The Committee has continued to pursue this issue and in March 2025 the Committee held an informal session with autistic disabled people's organisations.
The Committee wrote to the SHR in March 2025 summarising the evidence it had received and making some recommendations for where the SHR should take further action.
It recommended that the Bill should not progress in its current form and said that there was insufficient detail on the face of the Bill to allow for meaningful parliamentary scrutiny.

Following consideration of the evidence, the Committee agreed to schedule an evidence session on the impact of digital exclusion on poverty levels amongst pensioners, the reasons for this, and how they might be addressed. The session took place on 13 March 2025.
At its meeting on 8 May 2025, the Committee discussed what further action it could take.
