Overview of the Bill
The Social Security (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill was introduced in the Parliament on 31 October 2023, by the Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP. The Policy Memorandum, Explanatory Notes and Financial Memorandum were published alongside the Bill.
In 2022, the then Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Economy, Kate Forbes MSP, established a Short Life Working Group on Economic and Social Opportunities for Gaelic (the SLWG).
