Supported by: Stewart Stevenson*, David Torrance*, Bill Kidd*, Sandra White*, Stuart McMillan*, Richard Lyle* *S5M-22907 Michelle Ballantyne: Marie Curie South Scotland—That the Parliament recognises the work of Marie Curie in South Scotland; understands that NHS Borders benefits from nine Marie Curie nurses and 68 volunteers who provide valuable care and support for people living with terminal illness as well as their families; notes that in South Scotland 75% of people who die have a palliative care need and that Marie Curie has helped over 80% die in their place of choice; acknowledges with concern that the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted Marie Curie’s finances as most of its fundraising activities have been suspended; thanks Marie Curie’s nurses and volunteers for their hard work and dedication, and hopes that fundraising can soon begin in earnest.
