All the national public bodies covered by the national plan will be accountable to the Scottish ministers and it is my view that incorporating them into a single national plan strengthens, rather than dilutes, their accountability.
We have already mentioned care homes and, with the Accounts Commission, we will report next month on education outcomes, so we will capture further aspects of the pandemic that involve children and young people’s education.
All those variables have to be taken into account. There is modelling that suggests that, if you do it for 14 days, you might buy yourself 28 days of lower risk in your pandemic.
This has given my constituents the comfort of scrutiny and accountability. The Cross Party work on this, with Edward Mountain and Rhoda Grant, has also proved invaluable.
However, as part of that process, we also need to take account of the views of COSLA and the Association of Directors of Education in Scotland, which we will do.
We recognise that the convergence funding has been spent, but that does not mean that the review cannot take that into account. I hope that it does take it into account.
