S6W-43468 Jeremy Balfour: To ask the Scottish Government, in light of a year having passed since it paused researcher access to the 2021-22 Scottish Government Health and Wellbeing Census, following ethical concerns about the way that sensitive personal data from over 130,000 school children in 16 local authorities had been gathered without parental consent, shared with the Scottish Government and then promoted to external researchers, whether it will confirm whether (a) this data has now been deleted and (b) any organisation or department of the Scottish Government still has access to it. Official Report Meeting date: 16 December 2025

Meeting of the Parliament 16 December 2025 [Draft]

Over the course of a few weeks, Natalie Don-Innes has responded to an urgent question from Meghan Gallacher while the Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Home Affairs sat in the chamber; Meghan Gallacher raised the subject of an inquiry through a business motion but, again, there no action; Tess White, Pam Gosal, Sharon Dowey and Douglas Ross called for an inquiry in the violence against women and girls debate led by Shirley-Anne Somerville and Kaukab Stewart but, once again, there was no action; there was a Labour debate on group-based child sexual exploitation and abuse, led for the SNP by Jenny Gilruth and Angela Constance, but once again there was no action; and there was a point of order and an urgent question from my colleague Douglas Ross but, again, there was no action.

Official Report Meeting date: 28 January 2026

Meeting of the Parliament 28 January 2026 [Draft]

Meeting of the Parliament 13 November 2024

We all want to see further improvements, for many of the reasons that Ms Dowey outlines. I hope that she can be reassured that, for example, the digital evidence sharing capability scheme will be rolled out, as was announced during the summer.
Official Report Meeting date: 24 April 2024

Meeting of the Parliament 24 April 2024

Can the cabinet secretary update us on how many of the additional staff that are needed have been recruited so far? I assure Ms Dowey that there is no delay to the process, which was agreed and communicated well in advance of the very welcome move of HMP Kilmarnock into public ownership as part of the Scottish Prison Service.
Official Report Meeting date: 16 April 2024

Meeting of the Parliament 16 April 2024

I call Audrey Nicoll, to be followed by Sharon Dowey. I ask for concise questions and responses.
Official Report Meeting date: 21 September 2023

Meeting of the Parliament 21 September 2023
