The petition calls on the Scottish Parliament to request the Post Office to consider sympathetically the needs and requirements of disabled and elderly persons who, in urban areas in Scotland, would be expected to walk a substantial distance—sometimes in excess of 2 miles—as a result of the possible closure of certain sub-post offices.At its meeting on 29 September 2004, the committee agreed to seek the comments of the Scottish Executive, Royal Mail, Postwatch Scotland, the Disability Rights Commission, Age Concern Scotland and Help the Aged.
