To ask the Scottish Executive, in light of the statistics from the Child Poverty Action Group showing that approximately 80,000 children from low income families are not eligible for free school meals, whether the current eligibility criteria for free school meals should be widened and, if so, what specific action it is taking or plans to take in order to increase eligibility across Scotland. The current entitlement to free school meals ensures that help is targeted at children from the poorest families under clearly defined and understood criteria.
