Policy statement on National Parks 5A Policy statement on National Parks 5 (1) The National Parks (Scotland) Act 2000 is modified as follows. (2) After section 1 (the National Park aims) insert— “1A Policy statements by the Scottish Ministers (1) The Scottish Ministers must, for each reporting period, prepare and publish a National Parks policy statement. 10 (2) The policy statement must in particular set out— 1 (a) the Scottish Ministers’— (i) policy direction in relation to National Parks, (ii) vision for National Parks, and (iii) proposed outcomes resulting from the policy direction and 15 vision, (b) how new and existing duties on public bodies in relation to National Parks are expected to operate. (3) In this section, the “reporting period” is the period of 10 years beginning with day on which section 5 of the Natural Environment (Scotland) Act 20 2026 comes into force and each subsequent period of 10 years.”. 6 Definition of biodiversity (1) Section 35 of the National Parks (Scotland) Act 2000 (interpretation) is modified as follows.
