Our economy is stagnating and the truth is that we are flirting with recession. Gross domestic product for the previous quarter showed growth of a mere 0.3 per cent.
A number of other countries are gradually coming out of recession. We are not, and we now appear to be heading for a triple-dip recession, which will create further hardship and distress.
The wider economic context is also concerning—the effects of Brexit are still being felt, there is an acute cost crisis and there could be a recession on the horizon. It is important to put economic inactivity in the right longer-term and international perspective.
However, let us look to the future, because we are in a cost of living crisis now, and we know that inflation is heading into double digits and we are heading for a very deep recession. Do not make nurses pay the price, cabinet secretary.
Does the cabinet secretary expect the medium-term financial strategy to revert to its normal publication date of May 2022? On timetables, my intention is to publish that strategy following the UK spring statement, at least four weeks prior to the summer recess.

Currently indoor sport and leisure facilities are closed. The indicative date of Monday 26 April for the reopening of indoor sport and leisure facilities have been given the indicative date to reopen.
