In January, the Committee agreed to undertake a short inquiry into council tax reform in Scotland. This is a new theme of work for the Committee but has been included in our final tracker report of the session due to the likelihood of the issue arising in the next session.

Summary of evidence
Local authorities are a key component in Scotland's food system, and as described above their role is integral to the ambitions of the Good Food Nation Act.
This amounts to approximately one in twenty-five children aged 0-18, based on 2023 population estimates1National Records of Scotland. (2025). Population estimates time series data.
The evidence we received in relation to the economic impact on the UK and Scotland of the trade in services, under the terms of the TCA, is much more positive than the evidence we received in relation to the negative economic impact of the trade in goods under the TCA.
The Committee understands this work is ongoing and is being carried out in conjunction with Historic Environment Scotland. Our successor may consider it appropriate to write requesting an update regarding this work.
