The panel indicated a number of other organisations that we should contact, including some local authorities, and I suggest that we contact Glasgow, Edinburgh and possibly one of the Highlands authorities just to get a mix of views on what is happening out there.
Police Scotland has reiterated that, although the increase in reporting has been greater than usual, that is being managed by the contact centres and the impact on front-line officers has been minimal.

There is improvement work being undertaken in NHS Highland to support those who are most vulnerable in police custody, offering nursing support at first point of contact. In Kilmarnock, the organisation We Are With You attends people who are in police custody to help them with regards to MATS.
