Figure 9: Correlation coefficient between the share of "Remain" vote by local authority and change in vote between the 2012 and 2017 local electionsFor instance, there is a positive correlation between the two factors for the SNP (correlation coefficient r = 0.46). Figure 9 also shows that there is a small correlation between the proportion of "remain" votes and increase in support for the Greens (r = 0.23) and Liberal Democrats (r = 0.17) (other coefficients are under 0.1 and considered negligible).
