To recognise that achievement, we were honoured to attend an event a few weeks ago at the Scottish Parliament—I thank the convener for agreeing to be our host—where we engaged with MSPs to reflect on our journey and share our vision for the future.
We know that Police Scotland is already heavily involved in extensive collaborative work as part of operation begonia. As a north-east MSP, I am very aware of how well established and strong those collaborative partnerships are.
For me, the bottom line is that there are various views about the scope of fatal accident inquiries. As a constituency MSP, I have looked closely at the matter, not in relation to police officers but in respect of the complexities of deaths abroad.
As she is the member in charge of the bill, Gillian Mackay MSP will not participate in the committee’s scrutiny of the bill by virtue of rule 9.13A.2(b) of standing orders.
