The Scottish Government set out its position on 11 January 2024. It stated that "Tight safeguards on XL Bully dogs are to be introduced in Scotland to make it a criminal offence to own the breed without an exemption certificate.
The current SCCAP covers the period 2019 – 2024 and has three overarching themes (natural environment, buildings and infrastructure networks, and society), with related priorities.
In particular, Carers Scotland said—
We welcome the Scottish Government’s commitment to increase the number of carers who will benefit from Carer Support Payment when it launches nationally in 2024 and to continue to provide the Carer’s Allowance Supplement in the interim to sustain this improvement in value introduced in 2018.
