The Criminal Justice Committee recommends to the Scottish Parliament that it approve the Scottish Biometrics Commissioner Act 2020 (Code of Practice) (Appointed Day) (Scotland) Regulations 2022 [draft].
The Committee asked the Minister how the Government would communicate to those affected the changes introduced through the revocation of the Code of Practice and the introduction of the Guidance which replaces it.
A tied pub tenant cannot submit a request for arbitration prior to the 'earliest possible date' - which is 21 days after the tenant has notified the PoB of the alleged failure to comply with the code. A request for arbitration cannot be made more than four months after the earliest possible date either.
The person must also take all reasonable steps to ensure that anyone they employ does not attend to the animal unless they are acquainted with, have access to and have received instruction on how to comply with the Guidance for the Welfare of Meat Chickens and Meat Breeding Chickens, if relevant to the animal.
The Notice revokes the code entitled “Codes of Recommendations for the Welfare of Livestock: Meat Chickens and Breeding Chickens”, which was published by the Scottish Ministers on 18 July 2005.

The changes that the First Minister has introduced in his edition of the code mark the most fundamental developments to the code since the introduction of independent advisers on the code in 2008.
In the coming year a further £130 pandemic payment will be made to low income households in receipt of Council Tax Reduction, and two £100 Family Pandemic Payments will be made for each eligible child in receipt of Free School Meals.

Whilst this did represent a 50% increase, it should be seen in the context of all funding streams. Capital receipts in 2018/19 were higher as a result of the sale of the former Strathclyde Police HQ in Glasgow, so the increase in government grant in 2019/20 was almost entirely offset by the reduction in capital receipts. below the SPA and Police Scotland indicate that police capital funding for 2019/20 only represents 43% of the capital funding required.
The rural support plan was published on 24 March 2026 and an updated code of practice on sustainable and regenerative agriculture was published on 25 March 2026.
