Stage 1 Report to the COVID-19 Recovery Committee on the justice provisions in the Coronavirus (Recovery and Reform) (Scotland) Bill - Legal aid – interim payments

This was intended to help with cashflow given the impact of COVID-19 on case progress. The provisions in the Bill on legal aid seek to make amendments to the Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 1986 to establish a permanent system whereby interim payments can be made to solicitors and counsel, with corresponding powers of recovery in the event of overpayments resulting from such payments.
